 We are looking for a:

FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER NORTH AMERICA

The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for commissioning of new dryers and coolers for the feed and food industry and for all technical support to Geelen Counterflow customers in North America.

WHO WE ARE

Geelen Counterflow is the preferred manufacturer of dryers and coolers to the global market leaders in extruded petfood, aquafeed and food. Our dryers and coolers are chosen because of energy efficiency, hygienic standards and low maintenance costs.

The newest MkIV generation of Counterflow Dryers run on either gas, steam, hot water, electricity or hybrid, providing maximum flexibility to improve energy efficiency and decarbonize the drying process. The newest generation of hygienic design Counterflow Coolers is used successfully in the food and petfood industries. All equipment is manufactured in the Netherlands and assembled and commissioned on site in the US or Canada by our field service team.Our installed base in the US is growing quickly, with dozens of units being installed in 2021 and 2022.Therefore Geelen Counterflow is looking for a Field Service Engineer based in North America.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As Field Service Engineer you will start up our counterflow dryers and coolers in Canada and the US.  When you arrive on site, the hardware has already been assembled by our Field Service Mechanics and wiring/cabling was completed by a local supplier. You start by testing the I/O, PLC and HMI. You perform cold and hot tests without product. Then you start the dryer/cooler together with the rest of the production line and you train operators and maintenance team. After you return home, you work with HQ in the Netherlands to evaluate and tidy up any loose ends. Within a week or two you are back on the road to the next project.

You continuously keep in contact with our installed base in North America, answer their questions, and provide remote support. Every few years you re-visit dryers for check-up and optimization.
You keep close contact with Field Service, Sales and R&D teams at HQ in the Netherlands to provide feedback on what you see and learn, and to learn about the latest developments. You report to the Manager Field Service. You keep very close contact with the US based Sales Manager for North America. It is also possible that you will not only travel through North America, but also visit clients in South America. Conversely, it can also happen that your fellow Field Service Engineers in South America help you with customers in North America.

PREREQUISITES

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred
• Work experience in similar jobs, preferably in the same industry;
• Knowledge of industrial automation: PLCs, HMIs, networks;
• Hands on, ready to get your hands dirty if necessary;
• English (in word and writing);
• Strong analytical skills, independent and solution driven;
• Good customer service and communication skills
• Willingness to travel 50-70% of your time.
• Valid driver’s license
