Geelen Counterflow has made significant improvements to the design
of its Intermediate Gate discharger system.
The new design guarantees
a "straight down" drop from the Intermediate Gate to
the main cooler section, so there is no off-set to one side. Also,
the switch from pneumatics to hydraulics saves operational costs
and generates extra power to open the gate, even under heavy loads.
The purpose of the all stainless Intermediate Gate on a counterflow
cooler is to speed up the switch over from one product to the next.
There is no need to wait for the cooler to be empty before the
pelletmill or extruder can start with the new product. By temporarily
buffering the product on the Intermediate Gate floor, the previous
product can finish its normal cooler cycle in the main cooler.
Out of the total 5000+ coolers that we have installed in the world
market, over 500 have Intermediate Gates.
