| Geelen Counterflow was founded in 1980, initially as a technical services company to the animal feed industry. However, the invention of the counterflow cooler by one of the founders lead to the company dedicating itself to counterflow cooling and drying.
In the early 1980’s counterflow coolers were only used for cooling of pelleted animal feed in Europe, but the founders realized that a broader base was needed to offset the vulnerability of technological specialization. New applications were developed in petfood, fishfeed, food, recycling, oilseeds etc and new geographical markets were opened. Counterflow technology was further developed for use in drying processes.
The company grew from three employees in 1980 to around 60 employees today with 12000 m2 of factories and offices. In 1997 a new generation has taken over from the founders. Feed mills of the early days are still amongst the thousands of satisfied users of the original counterflow coolers today. In addition Geelen Counterflow now supplies counterflow coolers and dryers to the world's largest feed and food producers.
